Neal Devaraj, Ph.D. Scientific Cofounder

Dr. Devaraj is a Professor and Murray Goodman Endowed Chair in Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California San Diego. His lab has extensive expertise in the chemical biology of lipids and the development of membrane-based chemistries. His lab’s work has been recognized by several prestigious awards including the American Chemical Society Award in Pure Chemistry, the Blavatnik National Prize in Chemistry, the Eli Lilly Award in Biological Chemistry, a Guggenheim Fellowship in the Natural Sciences, and the Tetrahedron Young Investigator Award. Dr. Devaraj received his B.S. in Chemistry and Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he performed research in the lab of Prof. Moungi Bawendi. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry at Stanford University in the labs of Profs. James Collman and Christopher Chidsey, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Harvard Medical School in the lab of Prof. Ralph Weissleder.
